I do like the idea where Hera becomes mortal, this is a bit new for me, because I Always picture Hera as the enemy, thanks to "Xena warrior princess" TV show. But I should say that the idea was there and it was had mystical beings fighting other mystical creatures and also I do believe that the plot is good It did keep me interested and maybe I would consider reading the next book.
Wasn't sure what to think of the book at first, anything with Greek mythology or rather any mythology really and I'm game, but it stared slow and a little confusing for me. However once I got into the story I loved it. I love hera and justin, sad about the deaths. It took until shortly before the traitor was revealed to guess who it was so definitely good there. Already had to buy book 2.
I love this book! It has humor, suspense, mystery, a year plot, and an evil cliff hanger. I can't wait for the second book! The language is a little inappropriate for kids, as is Chapter Four. But every time I re read this book, it never gets boring. It always draws me in, and has the same humor, suspends and mystery as if it was the first time I read it. I give it a SOLID 5 stars, and would recommend it to anyone over 12! Great job, T. D. Thomas!
I thought this would just be another book about the gods but it was a surprise.chasing hidden enemies on earth,strange creatures,involving witches and mortals a war to save both worlds. Enjoyed the book already got the second one excellent writing. Keeps your interest.
As the first book in what will surely be a hit series, Hera, Queen of Gods proved to be a delightful read. The characters have good depth and the story draws on enough Greek myth to be a learning experience for younger readers while older readers with some knowledge of the Greek gods are able to appreciate the character relations a bit better. Overall, a good children's book.
Other reviews make it sound like knowing the myths is essential if you're going to read this book but they're wrong. This book is the least factual Greek myth book ever. If I didn't know the gods names I would have thought it was Australian mythology. Also almost everything was taken from rick riordans Egyptian or Greek series like mortals hosting gods, Syrian vows, power in artifacts, order and chaos and I don't even know how he decided to put Australia's dreamland's in the book. There are millions of other flaws but I need to let you know all it is is a pathetic romance novel. Bleh!!!!!!
Ok, to describe this book in 4 basic words; IT. IS. FLIPPING. AMAZING.
Just to help you with making the decision of buying this book, here is SOME of the hundreds of ways why this book is worth it.

#1 T.D Thomas is great at describing the Greek gods <Hera, Zeus, Athena, Demeter, as well as many others> in a new and interesting way that keeps you hooked throughout the whole story.
#2 I learned soooooo much about the gods and goddesses
#3 it was a good, fast-paced action adventure
#4 there was romance in it ;>
#5 and it was VERY well described and could be understood easily.
