Aiden Chalmers doesn't want much out of life. The inheritance from his grandmother would be nice. After all, he was supposed to get that on his twenty-fifth birthday and that was three months ago. But his father, Alpha Chalmers of the Northern States has insisted he won't release the money until Aiden has completed a week long training camp. The youngest of six brothers and having suffered a hard upbringing, Aiden figures anything would be worth going through so he could be free of his father. It's only for a week.
Ranger doesn't like people and he especially doesn't like his latest assignment - training a bunch of wannabe alphas for some goodness only knows reason. As the top assassin for the shifter council, he's starting to think either someone wants him dead, or he's being punished for a transgression he knows nothing about. But matters take an even stranger turn, when on the very first day of training, he scents his mate.
Things were never going to be easy for Aiden and Ranger. If the training camp wasn't hard enough, a missing will, the full secret about Aiden's inheritance and the little matter of Ranger being hired to kill his mate by a council member all add to their problems. If Ranger can keep his mate alive for the week, then maybe they will have a chance at a long and happy future. But it's a big if.
This book is a complete story of 26,700 words. The epilogue does provide hints for the next book, but each of the stories in this series can be read as standalone.
Warning M/M, true mate trope. Contains graphic intimate scenes and coarse language.

3.75 StarsGood start to this new series. Written by Lisa Oliver under the pen name Lee Oliver this delivers all you'd expect from one of her books. All of Lisa's books kind of interconnect, either by characters crossing over, mentions, and all set in the same universe just different packs, so while this story is shorter it also allows the author to start a new universe without the connections but also using the same social set ups (I.e shifter council etc)
I enjoyed the characters, especially Ranger and the other assassins. I'll enjoy reading their stories as we progress through the series.
The shortness of the book didn't faze me, as I think this was what I needed and I felt like the story worked in the length, I didn't feel like I was missing anything.
Looking forward to the next book

Ranger End Game Northern States Pack Book 1 edition by Lee Oliver Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews
What I love about this author is the quirky characters. They are unique and different.
I liked that Ranger was hell bent on protecting his mate.
Aidan was funny because he was determined to prove he was strong and even getting knocked around he could hold his own.
I really love this author (Lisa ) aka Lee Oliver. Every one is full of entertaining characters, hot MM love and twisty plots with bad guys who are totally vile, good guys who funny, sweet and deadly and a cast of great friends. Looking forward to the next book.
This was a great read. I could not put this book down. The chemistry and development of each character was perfect. I can't wait for the next book! Automatic buy
Awesome book! Even though it was short at 100 pages it didn't feel rushed to me as some of the short books do. I felt as though the paranormal aspect of the world was explained sufficiently so I wasn't scratching my head. I thought both characters had a personality, which is hit or miss in the shorter books. Also, the overall plot was interesting and entertaining with no loose ends from the couple the book was about.
Final verdict It was an incredible story and I can't wait for the next one!
FIrst Book in a new series and I Loved it! Lisa's books have great MC and always HEA. And I also get to find out what the characters from her other books in the series are doing because they are included. As an avid reader, I have have always enjoyed reading Lisa Oliver's books. The characters are interesting and the story always gets me invested quickly. I eagerly wait for her next book and buy it as soon as I can. From the very first book I ever read of hers to this one, I can't get enough. A truly enjoyable book!!!!
This was a kick ass start to a new series. We meet some wonderful characters that are all Alpha and some that just need a little push to be what they are meant to be. Ranger is the big bad assassin and they are a little afraid and a little horny when they see that small star. Aiden goes to training camp to get his father to release him. What happens at the camp make for some really nice twist and turns? Cam is character and can’t wait to read more about him and the mystery around him. What happens when assassin take a job and not go through with it? Highly recommend this book
This book was picked for me to read in a pick it for me challenge. This was a pretty good short quick read that I liked and wished it was longer. Aiden Chalmers was sent to a military style boot camp by his father. The training is run by Ranger a top assassin for the shifter council who doesn't want to be there he was called away from his vacation to do the job. What Aiden didn't know was that his father didn't think he would make it out alive and his father even but a hit out on him. Aiden and Ranger also realized that they are mates. Aiden has to complete the training in order to get his inheritance from his grandmother who left him over 200 million dollars although he thought it was 20,000. With the help of his second in command Cam Ranger finds out the truth about Aiden's father and turns out Aiden is the Alpha of the Northern States Pack and the house that he was trying to get away from is his and that his brother's were not suppose to be living there. The didn't really have any dangerous moments although Ranger did wait until another assassin Marcus showed up with his mate and they dealt with his brothers and father. I really liked all of the character's in this book. This was my first time reading this author. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading more books in this series. The next book is about Cam who has a secret mate.
